Needville Expansion Demand Response

Fort Bend Transit is excited to announce dedicated service from Needville to the Richmond and Rosenberg area, beginning on September 1, 2024. The Fort Bend Transit Service Expansion Grant Project will expand the current Demand Response service in the Needville area by introducing a new service route within a designated zone. The service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7-11 am and 1-5 pm, with a fare of $1.00 each way.

 This service aims to better connect rural residents to essential destinations, including medical facilities, workplaces, retail areas, and higher education institutions. It will complement the existing demand response service by offering additional service hours exclusively for the Needville area, with a high denial rate.

 In order to schedule or cancel a ride you may call 866-751-TRIP between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and follow the prompt to speak to a reservationist. Reservations can be made 30 days or up to 1 business day in advance of the appointment time. Be sure cancellations are received before 4:00pm on the prior business day of the scheduled trip. If a passenger is not ready or decides not to go, the trip will be considered a “no show” trip. If a passenger receives six “no show” or "late-cancellation" trips in a ninety (90) day period, their services will result in a thirty (30) day suspension.

There are no transit services available on county holidays. Rides are typically scheduled for the first “destination” drop-off by 8:00 AM and the last pick-up will be no later than 5:00 PM. Repeat rides may be scheduled in advance. Rides will be accepted on a “time and space” available basis.

Passengers must be ready 15 minutes before the scheduled pick up time. This is a curb-to-curb service; however, persons with disabilities can request door-to-door service. All passengers must wear seat restraints. Seat restraints must be provided for children 40 lbs or less. Passengers 13 years or younger must be accompanied by another person 18 years or older. Individuals unable to independently travel safely or securely regardless of age must be accompanied by an assistant.
