Volunteer Deputy Registrar

Texas election law provides for County Voter Registrars to designate individuals to assist in the registration of eligible persons to vote. Volunteer Deputy Registrars (VDRs) are appointed, and operate under State rules and the supervision of the County Voter Registrar.

FOR INDIVIDUALS ALREADY CERTIFIED AS A VDR FROM A COUNTY OTHER THAN FORT BEND.

A person already certified as a VDR for the current two-year term (2025-2026), in any other Texas County, may obtain VDR Certification in Fort Bend County through a reciprocal process.  The VDR desiring appointment must visit the Fort Bend Elections Administration Office.

It is recommended that the VDR email our office before visiting, as Fort Bend Elections Administration will move to a new facility in early 2025.

Email: VDR@fortbendcountytx.gov

Current Location: 4520 Reading Rd, Suite A-400 Rosenberg, TX 77471
New Location: 3730 Bamore Rd, Rosenberg, TX 77471

The reciprocal process includes the following actions by the VDR:

  • Presenting their valid Texas ID,
  • Completing an application for appointment as a Fort Bend VDR,
  • Providing a copy of the VDR certificate from the other Texas county, and
  • Participating in a briefing to receive Fort Bend County VDR-Specifics

Following the briefing, the VDR is issued a registration kit and Fort Bend County VDR Certificate.

FOR INDIVIDUALS NOT ALREADY CERTIFIED AS A VDR IN ANOTHER TEXAS COUNTY.

A person who wishes to become a VDR in Fort Bend County has two training methods available to them:

    OR
