Patrol Division

Captain Steve HoltzCaptain Steve Holtz is the Director of the Patrol Division Operations, which includes both the patrol functions, and Special Operations. In his position Captain Holtz runs all day-to-day operations of the division which include the command of major events and incidents, allocation of Division personnel, the enforcement and compliance of policy, and all employee related issues, including but not limited to Commendations, Counseling, and Discipline. The Patrol division manages the law enforcement services in the unincorporated areas of Fort Bend County, and in some municipalities. The Patrol division responds to citizens’ request for service and the enforcement of criminal and traffic laws. Additionally, the Patrol division oversees the cattle deputies, motorcycle traffic unit, the Honor Guard, the Sex Offender Registry program, and the investigators of the Warrants unit who are responsible for the apprehension of criminal suspects who have outstanding warrants for arrest. The special operations section includes the (SWAT) team which responds to critical incidents in the county as well as serving both high risk search and criminal warrants.

Captain Holtz served 26 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Starting as a Highway Patrol Trooper, Holtz promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Rosenberg Highway Patrol Office. As the Sergeant, Holtz was responsible for the supervision, training, evaluating and overall command of critical incidents involving DPS in Fort Bend County. Holtz is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army.

Holtz is a graduate of the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy. He is a certified Master Peace Officer and Law Enforcement Instructor from the Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Holtz holds numerous awards and commendations for his work as a Texas Highway Patrolman.
