Sheriff Public Information Office

The Public Information Office serves as the Sheriff’s Office liaison to the news media and the community. The Office works to establish a positive, professional relationship between the agency and local, state, and national media, and engages citizens to strengthen relationships with the communities we serve and to enhance public safety.

The Public Information Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is closed on county holidays. After hours, emails and phone messages will be returned after 8 a.m. the following business day. All written records requests, including arrest affidavits and event reports, may be emailed to the Public Information Office at fbcsopio@fortbendcountytx.gov or directly to the Records Division at fbcsorecords@fortbendcountytx.gov. Records are not available on the weekend and are never disseminated from the Fort Bend County Jail. The Records Division will review and process all requested records within 10 business days.

For the Media

Routine media inquiries and records requests are handled as expeditiously as possible during normal business hours. After hours, the on-call Public Information Officer (PIO) is on call to address immediate news concerns that cannot be postponed until the following business day. The PIO is unable to provide the status of previous cases or cases not considered breaking news and will not have information regarding routine arrests and car accidents and crimes not resulting in death or critical injury.
