Major James Burger

James Burger is the Commander of the Criminal Investigations Bureau for the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. This bureau includes Narcotics and the Criminal Investigations Division, which is responsible for investigating major personal crimes and property crimes. The specific details and units included within this division include Homicide, Robbery, Special Crimes, Burglary and Theft, Auto Theft, Internet Crimes Against Children, and other units, such as Family Violence, Sexual Assault, Crime Analysis, Victim Liaison, Fraud, and Fugitive Apprehension.

A highly respected law enforcement professional, Major James Burger has served Fort Bend County with the Sheriff’s Office since 1985. Major Burger has held several positions within the Sheriff’s Office such as Lieutenant over the Internal Affairs Division, Captain over the Training Academy, and Captain over the Criminal Investigations Division.

Major James Burger is a graduate of the 215th session of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) National Academy at Quantico, Virginia. He is a certified Master Peace Officer and Law Enforcement Instructor from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education.
